Theresa was initiated into the Dagara Tradition through the lineage of Elder Dr. Malidaoma Somé in 2006. She has travelled three times to Burkina Faso with Malidoma and is a long time supporter of the East Coast Village. She is also an initiated Kontomblé Diviner as described in Malidoma's writing.
She is affectionately nicknamed "The Homework Shaman" for her unfailing understanding that while we are working with the Other World of ancestors and spirit, we humans have to do our part of the conversation in the circle of being.
As an Elder of the Nature Clan in the Dagara Cosmology, Theresa is known for her sense of humour and acceptance of whatever situations we are facing. Her goal is to listen compassionately and recommend ways for people to get connected to their source.

In the cosmology of the Dagara Tribe of Burkina Faso West Africa, the universe was formed when a veil thinned/a portal opened causing water to collide with fire, creating our planet. Water, which makes up 70% of the planet, is the life-giving source to all living things.
In this Nature Year in the Dagara cosmology, we connect deeply with the healing and transformation. Connecting with the wisdom of the Ocean Mother provides an opportunity for healing and manifestation, for release and transformation, for soul nurturance and connection, for cleansing and purification, for compassion and rectification and much more.

Divination with
Cowrie Shells
The beautiful Cloth Divination Kit is a spread of cowrie shells and other objects, including medicine pieces, stones, bones, and crystals, based on the unique and ancient technique of the Dagara Tribe peoples, adapted for the West by Elder Dr. Malidoma Somé PhD.
Whether in person or on zoom, the objects are spread around on the cloth. Theresa then reads the configuration and translates the messages about your life and how it resonates with the ancestors and elemental spirits. Often, prescriptions are suggested to help you bring your life into alignment with your lineage and the Dagara Medicine Wheel.

She brings a lifetime of experience with highs and lows, time as a recluse and time deeply in the middle of community concerns. Her ability to extend a welcome, encourage the life purpose of individuals she meets, have an ear for grief and a sensitivity to the ancestors is almost legendary.
